Skyline College Defeats De Anza College

Skyline won its road opener on Wednesday night defeating De Anza College 55-39.  Skyline’s offense started slowly, but was able to stay in the game through good defense and rebounding.  Skyline trailed 21-16 at the half. Scoring started to open up in the third quarter as Skyline showed better ball movement and shot selection allowing the Trojans to take a narrow three point lead heading into the fourth quarter.  Strong defense lead the way in the fourth, as Skyline limited De Anza to just six points in the quarter and the Trojans were able to pull away for a 55-39 win. Freshman Jalene Parangan lead the Trojans with 14 points with sophomores Kalisi Fononga, Olga Faasolo and freshman Nicole Brunicardi also adding double figures.  Fononga, Brunicardi, and sophomore Ani Uikilifi all added 8 rebounds to help Skyline to victory.



Skyline Defeats College of Marin in Home Opener

Skyline College jumped out to an early lead over College of Marin and never looked back Saturday in the Trojan’s home opener.  Leading 24-6 after the first quarter, Skyline extended their lead through solid defense and unselfish play in each of the remaining three quarters.  Skyline received contributions from all 9 players. Sophomore Olga Faasolo led the way with 22 points, while freshman Jalene Parangan and Emilia Dougherty chipped in 11 and 10 respectively.  Sophomore Kalisi Fononga and freshman Nicole Brunicardi had 11 rebounds each to limit Marin’s second chance opportunities.
