Dino Nomicos Inducted Into The CCCBCA Hall Of Fame

For more than four decades, Dino Nomicos has built a legacy defined by both.
Skyline College proudly celebrates the induction of longtime Head Baseball Coach and current Dean of Kinesiology, Athletics and Dance and Athletic Director Dino Nomicos into the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association (CCCBCA) Hall of Fame, Class of 2026—one of the highest honors in California community college baseball. The induction recognizes a lifetime devoted to coaching, education, leadership, and service to student-athletes throughout the state.
For Skyline College, however, Coach Nomicos' legacy extends far beyond awards and championships. It is reflected in the program he built, the students he mentored, and the culture of excellence he established.
Building a Championship Program
Following assistant coaching stops at the University of San Francisco and Cañada College, Nomicos joined Skyline College in 1998 before becoming head coach in 2000. He inherited a struggling program and transformed it into one of Northern California's most respected community college baseball programs.
Over 20 seasons, Nomicos compiled a 419–358 record, becoming the winningest baseball coach in Skyline College history. His teams captured the program's first Coast Conference Championship in more than three decades in 2004 while earning eight postseason appearances and establishing a tradition of consistent success.
His leadership earned statewide recognition, including Coast Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2004 and 2007, Victory Coach of the Year in 2014, and the 4CA Coaching Ethics Award in 2024.
Developing Student-Athletes
Coach Nomicos believed that the ultimate measure of a program was not simply what happened on the field, but what happened after students left Skyline.
Under his leadership, 172 student-athletes transferred to four-year universities on scholarship, more than 30 players signed professional baseball contracts, and Skyline produced 18 All-Americans, 12 All-Northern California selections, 122 All-Conference honorees, four Gold Glove winners, and two Big Stick Award recipients.
Just as impressive was the program's commitment to academics. Approximately 95 percent of Skyline Baseball student-athletes graduated or transferred to four-year institutions, reflecting Coach Nomicos' belief that education was every bit as important as athletics.
A Lasting Impact on Skyline College
Coach Nomicos' influence extends well beyond the baseball diamond.
In 2005, he helped guide the development of Skyline College's modern athletic complex, including the FieldTurf baseball stadium that continues to serve as the home of Trojan Baseball.
His leadership later expanded to the entire college community as Dean of Kinesiology, Athletics and Dance and Athletic Director, where he continues to champion student success, educational excellence, and the growth of Skyline's athletic programs. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to creating opportunities for students both inside and outside the classroom.
Beyond Skyline, Nomicos also dedicated two decades of service to the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association Executive Committee and served as the Coast Conference Baseball Liaison, helping shape community college baseball across the state.
A Trojan Legacy
Long before becoming one of California's most respected coaches and administrators, Nomicos was himself a standout student-athlete.
A Prep All-American and multi-sport athlete at St. Ignatius College Preparatory, he continued his baseball career at Cañada College, earning All-Conference honors before transferring to the University of San Francisco, where he again served as team captain and All-Conference outfielder. He concluded his playing career with two seasons of professional baseball in Montreal before dedicating his life to coaching and education.
His journey—from community college student-athlete to Hall of Fame coach, educator, and college administrator—embodies the transformative power of California community colleges.

A Hall of Fame recognition celebrates extraordinary achievement, but Coach Dino Nomicos' greatest accomplishment cannot be measured by championships or awards alone.
His legacy lives in every student-athlete who earned a degree, transferred to a four-year university, signed a professional contract, or learned the values of discipline, integrity, and leadership while wearing a Skyline uniform.
His impact can be seen throughout Skyline College—in its baseball program, its athletic facilities, its student-athletes, and its enduring tradition of excellence.
