Mission Statement
The Sports Medicine Staff at Skyline College is responsible for establishing a safe, comfortable and healthy environment for the care and prevention of athletic injuries. The Sports Medicine Staff is committed to providing exceptional services to the student-athlete with a qualified medical staff which includes 2 certified athletic trainers, team physicians, team orthopedic surgeons, and a variety of health care professions.

Jose D. Bonilla, ATC
Jose Bonilla is entering his 13th year as Head Athletic Trainer at Skyline College. He earned his degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Pre-Physical Therapy from San Francisco State University and is certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification.
Throughout his career, Jose has become a highly respected figure among athletic trainers at the community college level. His impact extends beyond the athletic training room—he is deeply committed to mentoring future professionals through an internship program in partnership with his alma mater, San Francisco State University.

Jose lives in San Mateo, California with his wife, Jeri, and their pet therapy Labrador, Vegas. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, playing his collection of ukuleles, and cheering for his favorite teams—the San Francisco Giants, 49ers, and San Jose Sharks.
