2021-22 Women's Basketball Season Recap
Skyline Women's Basketball had another outstanding season capped with a return to the California State Playoffs and a final California State Ranking of 13. Skyline started the preseason strong even while dealing with injuries to their two lone sophomores, Nicole Brunicardi and Jalene Parangan. In the absence of inured sophomores, freshmen Malia Latu, Lala Lautaimi, and Tatiana Newsome emerged as marquee players. Latu's breakout preseason earned her a full athletic scholarship to the University of San Francisco before Coast Conference play even started. Skyline finished the preseason with a 13-3 record. The start of the Coast Conference season brought the return of Nicole Brunicardi and included a season sweep of district rival College of San Mateo, and wins against conference foes City College of San Francisco and Chabot College. Skyline finished Coast Conference play with an 8-2 record, good enough for a second-place finish. Latu, Lautaimi, and Newsome were all named 1st Team All Coast Conference, while Brunicardi earned 2nd Team All Coast Conference. Postseason play included a home victory over Laney College in the 2nd round of the California State Playoffs before losing to eventual state runner-up Delta College in the 3rd round.
