Women’s Wrestling Competes at 4th Annual Cerritos Women’s Open
Norwalk, Calif. — The Skyline College Women's Wrestling team continued to build momentum this season with a strong showing at the 4th Annual Cerritos Women's Open this past weekend in Norwalk.
Skyline was led by Jax Saeed, who captured the championship title at 207 pounds, delivering an outstanding performance throughout the tournament. Saeed's run showcased her composure, strength, and determination as she battled through a competitive bracket to claim first place.
In addition, Skyline assistant coach Isabel Zepeda, competing unattached, earned a second-place finish at 235 pounds. This marked the second consecutive weekend that both Skyline representatives repeated top finishes, mirroring their performances from the previous competition at Sierra College.
The Trojans had seven student-athletes competing at the event, with each wrestler demonstrating clear improvement, perseverance, and grit across their matches. The tournament provided valuable experience and highlighted the team's continued growth as the season progresses.
"This tournament was about more than wins and losses," said Head Coach Olga Camacho. "Our athletes showed heart, resilience, and steady development. Seeing our wrestlers and staff continue to perform consistently from week to week speaks to their commitment and work ethic."
Skyline College Women's Wrestling will now turn its focus to preparation for its next competition, the Sac City Open, taking place this Saturday, February 14, as the team continues its competitive season.
